those links are awesome Maggie. I can see me spending my whole time in Wicklow.. lol. Amazing.
Well you might have to wander over into Tipperary...if you want to see some good fiddlers at a session....
On the "Journey through Wicklow Part 2" at 5:33 on the tape, you can see the centre of Enniskerry (near Powerscourt)
with the Flags of Ireland, the European Union, and the USA.
At 6.03 on the same clip, there is a shot of Tinahely.
Here is a short clip showing the location of Luggala at 0.35 on the tape....
It is the white bit in the trees.....you can only see the house in Winter, it is concealed by trees in Summer.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTZ7I0hnLdE&feature=relatedIt is called the "Guinness estate" because the Brewery family built the house and owned it for many years.
Many famous people have visited there because of the privacy and seclusion.
Here is "how to drive in Ireland" apparently made by an American.
Yes, as in the video you must be careful....a herd of sheep or cows could be just around the bend,
and
they have priority......you must stop for them....pull off the road if possible.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFrgz1FoB60&feature=relatedIf there is a farmer or a border collie present, they have control of the animals and you must wait
until they have moved along or into a pasture.
Border collies are quite capable of handling a herd without a human. As a young girl staying with Uncle Billy and Aunt Elsie,
I often offered to bring the cows home for milking.....Sam (Uncle Billy's Border Collie) made it very clear he didn't need me...
..he knew every cow and would make sure all were rounded up.....I was only there to open the gate.
Do NOT wander into any fenced or walled fields especially where baby animals are present,
or where there is a bull. If you can not tell the difference between a bull and a cow,
or a bull and a bullock (steer) you should not be wandering around in the countryside!
The farmer may keep firearms to shoot foxes or any animal endangering his stock.
