Laying around listening to the radio and wondering if it's lay or lie in this sentence. But I *did* finish my paper... Now I just have to figure out where in the world I put my textbook. Not good.
Well, even top English experts often get this mixed up...including me... Lie Lay Lain.... to REST Lay Laid Laid to place something... lying is the gerund... All day in pain I had lain Or all day in pain, he had lain... But what do we usually say about our Uncle that is sick? He has laid up there all day Sorry, I am no help...Google it...it's fun all these crazy rules of English |
