Ok, I have not had an apple for 2 yrs. See ever since I started picking my own every fall at a Fruit farm, I don't touch store bought.

Well back in April 2007, in fact during the time CW was in Columbus, we had a late cold snap, with heavy snow, frost etc, after a week of 70 degree weather, then another cold snap in May, thus it pretty much damaged any crops for that year.

So last week FINALLY, the apples I love to pick were ready!! It was pouring down rain, but I didn't care, I just picked faster lol.

so now I have 20# of apples, well less now, since I been eating them.

So...if An Apple a day keeps the Doctor away....what does 3 to 4 apples a day do...

Don't answer that!!  Grin Grin

All I have to do is travel a few miles up US 50 to the Apple Hill area.  I think every variation on apple-anything has been done.

I have to pass through that area every weekend for work, during harvest time I have to pass through early because everyone from the valley is coming up for Apples and Apple products.  Bumper to bumper traffic for miles, all for apples.

Our area in Missouri had a great apple crop this year and friends have been giving me bags and bags of apples.

Since I can't eat them fast enough, I peeled and sliced them all, mixed in some cinnamon, sugar, nutmeg and cloves, then froze them.  Whenever I want some desert, I just pull a bag out of the freezer, heat it in the microwave and put a little ice cream on top.

It's delicious...!     Smiley

Oh how I wish I  could have apples!  I have a food allergy to fresh apples and pears.  Cry I can eat applesauce and apple pie, but no fresh fruit.  I once asked my doctor if I took a benedryl before eatting one whether it would make a difference and he didn't think so.

The orchard I go to starts selling the beginning of Sept, each weekend is a diff apple that is available for self-picking. My fav, which use to be Winesap, is now GoldRush, and both are available only on the last 2 weekends of Oct.

As for making applesauce...no way...I love crunching on these apples!! Believe me that 20# will be gone in about another 2 weeks.
