Couldn't have said it better myself, Bob!

THK to me, so far, seems like the Clancy Brothers or the Dubliners kicked up a notch. Little more modern, little more flashy, but still a good sense of old traditional Irish music. I'm cautiously optimistic!

The second song on the preview is kind of like the guy's PoV of Send Me a Song.

Maybe the High Kings will grab some of the old or should I say mature Clancy Brothers fans.

I must have been under a rock lately because I just heard about The High Kings.  They seem promising!  I look forword to learning/hearing/seeing more of them.  I love that Irish/Celtic music is growing so much in popularity-much thanks to CW for that!!! I know quite a few people that wouldn't listen to this genre of music if they hadn't heard of our ladies...  Wink

I just saw the vid of the week "Fields of Glory" it's about Soccer and i love soccer Grin

It's not about soccer.......it's about Gaelic Football....much faster, much  more exciting and passionate than soccer!

Yes Ireland has a National Soccer Team, and they have beaten England at their own game, but it's not a National Sport.

The clues are in the lyrics:

"They come from the Townlands, the Parish, the Village...."

You will not find a soccer pitch in the Townlands and Villages of Ireland.
You will find a Gaelic Football Pitch, and a Hurling field.

"In fine Summer weather...."

Gaelic Football is played in Summer, soccer (all over Europe) in Winter.

The images behind the Band were of Kerry winning the Sam McGuire Cup.

Well done Maggie
I do feel I need to point out that the term pitch is Irish for a sports field. Also I found this on Gaelic football.

Here is the presentation of the Sam McGuire Cup to Declan O'Sullivan, the Captain of Kerry.
You would not get this enthusiasm at a soccer game:

My Irish side is from County Cork. That's Rebel County. So anything from County Cork would be a rebel song, including the Clancy Brothers. <g>

For this side of the pond, have you ever head Bonnie Blue Flag?

A bit different from the average rebel song, but I think I'd have to pick "Fields of Athenry" Tongue It counts, right? Tongue

It's so terribly tragic.
