Rego Irish Records are good friends to the Forum.....they gave us a good deal
with the CW Christmas DVD and CD.
Nice people too.

http://www.regorecords.com/

I feel a sense of loyalty to them, they always ship very promptly and charge the lowest possible.
They have a good variety of Irish music and DVDs.

I used to buy from their Irish branch when I lived in England.

They have 2 different web sites in the US. I ordered from the other one. Now that I know the difference, I have them both book marked. They were real prompt when I ordered the Christmas DVD.

Barnes and Noble had mine, but they seem to only have one on display and that is the one I took, didn't see any others. Maybe thats a good sign?

I will stop at another and check for the DVD.

As for the CD....

Listen to it.......4 x so far  ;D

Oh, noooo....

Galway to Graceland

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

It's funny, but kind of sad...(once I get thru my giggles)

no The Parting Glass, that one...is good, then till the bag pipes start, then I am a goner...gives me chills everytime, and the last one, The Wild Rover,

some of these songs ALMOST make me want to get up and do a jig...I said ALMOST ;) ;D

I was able to find it at Walmart.. surprisingly cheap too. $12.. I don't see it anywhere online for near that! I feel I must've got cheated somehow :P

no DVD though :'(

Post by: Mel on February 26, 2008, 03:40PM
I FOUND THE DVD!!

Walmart had one.

But are there 2 diff CD's out? The one I have doesn't have all the songs on it.

No Jimmy Murphy, bodhran solo, The holy ground, and 2 others.

And for the first time in 12 monts, I will have GUYS singing on my iPOD :D.

I will have a The Girls Playlist, and The Guys Playlist.

Then I am going to prepare my TGIF's Spinich and Artichoke Dip, and have me a nice Snack while I preview the DVD. Just in case I can't stay up till what ever time the chat is :D

There is a couple songs I wish were on the CD...

but I did enjoy the DVD. I really like the ending...<sniff>

Title: Re: High Kings CD
Post by: 07-sara on February 26, 2008, 06:36PM
That was a good song to end on.  The biggest reason I got the DVD instead of the CD was because it didn't have all the songs on it.

Title: Re: High Kings CD
Post by: Mel on February 26, 2008, 06:43PM
well till I find a program to rip the audio off the DVD, I need the CD to put the songs on my iPOD or play in the car  ;D

Both my CD and DVD came yesterday.   Held off til this morning on my way to work to play the CD.   Davd Downs has done it again.  They are great.   A great blending of voice and music, in fantastic arrangements that only David could do.   I saved the DVD for tonight.

Now my dream concert is the High Kings meet Celtic Woman!   Now that would be a PBS prize worth the big bucks.

I took my CD and DVD with me when I saw The High Kings at WMFE Studios last night, hoping  they would sign them for me.
There is a folded insert with their pictures on in the CD case, but everything has a very dark background.
So I took with me one of those metallic marker pens, and they were able to write messages for me......so you might want to get one in case you meet these great guys.

I have  watched the dvd or listened to the music every single day since the 27th when I got them. On March 1st like 3 days after getting the cd and dvd, I went to a wedding. Right before going Marie's Wedding was playing and in my head it stayed the whole day long. I was sitting in one of our nicest hotels watching the ceremony and mouthing the words to this song!! I love them already they are sooo talented!

Sarah ;D

I bought my High Kings DVD and CD from Rego Irish Records, as usual.
http://www.regorecords.com/

Marsha and Tom are nice people, always reliable, and they keep their prices and shipping reasonable. I can also find other great Irish music there.

A few minutes ago, I was on www.celticwoman.com and they had a link for buying the High Kings CD, so I clicked on it out of curiosity.

Why would they have a link to the British Amazon site, with prices in Pounds?  ???

I just got the cd and I love it. The guys are very talented, sound wonderful, and look great. I can't really choose a favourite song because I like them all but 'Paddy's Green Shamrock Shore' and 'The Rocky Road to Dublin' I really like.

Whoohoo!!!  ;D Just got my CD today and I absolutely love it! I was jammin' along to it on the elliptical machine today hehe. It's such a good CD and I'm so happy to be able to put it on my iPod. My Dad is really enjoying it too...he put it on his iPod as well. :) He is/was a big fan of The Clancy's.

I think my favorite songs are:

- The Black Velvet Band (they play this at my favorite pub that my friends and I go to, so whenever I hear it it really reminds me of that!)
- Paddy's Green Shamrock Shore
- Marie's Wedding
- The Parting Glass (omg *SO* pretty...quickly becoming obsessed with this song!!)

and of course The Rocky Road to Dublin.

I kinda wish I could go to one of their shows, but they won't be in SoFla. Going back up to Jax for yet another show just wouldn't be feasible. (Plus, I gotta save all of my traveling for CW).

I got this CD a few days ago and very much love it.  My favourites are Paddy's Green Shamrock Shore, Marie's Wedding, and The Little Beggarman.  I also love Jimmy Murphy, but it didn't come on the album.  However, my friend got the album from iTunes on St. Paddy's, and she said it included Jimmy Murphy.  Musta been a special.    ;D

I still haven't gotten the cd, but watch the dvd constantly, just sent it to my friend as a birthday present. A funny story, at the recent CW show in Rochester I was standing in the aisle waiting for the show to start and listening to THK over the speakers. Well "The Wild Rover" comes on and of course I clap. And surprise surprise I'm not the only one. The others were tentative until they heard me!!  :D
